Traditional Thai Massage

Thai Gold Massage

picture of thai massage in studio Developed over 2,500 years ago with Indian and Chinese influences. Thai massage works to open, stimulate and balance the flow of energy through the body to assist in its own self-healing. The various techniques are used include using the thumbs and palms of the hand to rhythmically manipulate the energy lines and warm the muscles followed by mobilisation of joints and yogalike stretching and pulling. The many benefits include improvement of the circulatory and lymphatic systems, increased flexibility, muscle tone, reduce stiffness and tension, and an overall feeling of relaxation and well being. Thai massage is considered to be firm and strong but the pressure should be tolerable. The receiver can remain clothed but loose comfortable clothing is recommended.

The kneading of muscles, which dominates in Western style massage, is absent from Thai massage; energy points are pressed or general pressure is used instead. There is a lot of stretching involved and many exercises might well be described as 'applied physical Yoga'.

Like other styles of massage, traditional Thai massage increases vascular activity which breaks up and moves trapped toxins. But Thai massage is unique because it directs all the toxins out, both energetically and physiologically. Consequently, people don't feel sedated after a session. On the contrary, clients feel centred and grounded when the massage is over. Another unique aspect of this massage form is that the stretches and acupressure are administered to the client's limits, and the therapist's thumbs, hands, elbows, knees and feet are used.

Full 1 ½ hour and 45 minute sessions are available and the sequence of the treatment can be adapted according to the individual's problems and needs.
1 ½ hour session £60
45 minute session £35
